CHANDLER AZ. OCT. 30, 2007

Two men believed to be involved in a Valley-wide theft ring, stretching from Chandler to Buckeye, were busted inside a Wal-Mart, authorities said.

These people are somewhat professional burglars,” said Buckeye Police spokesperson, Parrish Spisz.33-year-old Jason Brattoli of Tolleson and 28-year-old Nathan Daugherty of Peoria were arrested after police said store security officers caught the two breaking into an electronics cabinet, at the Wal-Mart located near I-10 and Watson on Friday.“They contacted us once they had them under surveillance and were following them through the store,” said Spisz.Spisz said he’s not sure how many people are involved in the theft ring, but he said the two have been caught stealing at least $90,000 dollars worth of merchandise including iPods, computers and clothing from Wal-Marts all across the valley since January.“We do have some evidence that they’ve been pawning these items,” said Spisz. In all, police said the Brattoli and Daugherty are accused in 13 cases and it wasn’t easy to arrest them.“There was a little chase throughout the store, but we ended up getting the two suspects,” said Spisz.
